# Privacy Policy for Potoroo

## 1. Overview

Potoroo is operated by Frank Lu, an individual developer.

Potoroo is designed to keep your writing data on your device by default. We do not require account creation, and no third-party analytics or trackers are used.

## 2. Data Stored on Your Device

Potoroo stores your content locally, including posts, profiles, templates, links you add, and attachment references. Attachment files and thumbnails are also stored locally in your app data.

## 3. Optional iCloud Sync for Journal Data

Potoroo offers an optional iCloud sync toggle. If you turn it on, your app data syncs through Apple's CloudKit and is stored entirely in your private iCloud container (not on our servers). If you keep it off, journal data stays local to the device.

## 4. Automatic iCloud Settings Sync

Separately from the optional journal sync toggle, some app settings (for example theme and feature preferences) may sync automatically via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store when iCloud is enabled on your device.

## 5. Network Access Used by the App

The app may make limited network requests to support app features: iCloud sync (Apple CloudKit), iCloud settings sync, and link preview metadata fetching when you add links. Potoroo also uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. If you email support, we process the information you include in that message to respond.

## 6. Payments

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details.

## 7. Notifications

If you enable reminders/resurface notifications, notification content is generated from your own data and delivered through Apple notification services.

## 8. Data Sharing and Selling

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertising networks. We may disclose limited information when required by law, legal process, or valid government request; to investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

## 9. Data Retention and Deletion

Data remains on your device unless you delete it. If iCloud sync is enabled, synced data is also stored in your iCloud account. Turning off sync stops future syncing but does not automatically delete previously synced iCloud data.

## 10. Your Choices

You can control data use by deleting content in the app, disabling iCloud in device settings, and disabling app notifications in device settings. You may also contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information we hold in direct support communications.

## 11. Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at frank@potoroo.app.

## 12. Children's Privacy

Potoroo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

## 13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
